Services

What we do:

  • Exotic Pet Care

  • Dr. Tope holds quite an interest in exotic animal medicine. This is a rapidly developing aspect of Veterinary Medicine and our practice.

  • Wellness Visits / Annual Exams

  • Regular veterinary exams can help to ensure that your pet is staying healthy or aging gracefully. We recommend a series of exams for puppies and kittens, annual exams for pets 1-7 years, and biannual exams for pets 7 years and older. Wellness visits and annual exams often include blood parasite screening, fecal parasite screening, as well as a complementary oral/dental examination to check for mouth and tooth problems. The doctors at ECAC can also tailor vaccine programs based on your pet's exposure risk to certain diseases.

  • Internal Medicine

  • Our doctors are experienced in all aspects of internal medicine such as Gastroenterology, Dermatology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Neurology, Endocrinology, and other areas.

  • Surgery

  • A dedicated surgery suite with high tech equipment is utilized daily for surgical procedures. Spays, neuters, declaws, lump removals, wound treatments, and exploratory surgeries are performed frequently.

  • Dentistry

  • Dentistry is a new focus in veterinary medicine. We perform regular cleaning/polishing along with extraction services. A new medication designed to strengthen the attachment of the periodontal ligament is being incorporated into our dental care regimen. We also have a new dental sealant available that will greatly decrease the adherence of plaque to the tooth surface after a cleaning is performed.

  • Radiology (X-RAY)

  • Radiographs are produced on site in our dedicated radiology room. Radiographs are developed in less than 5 minutes in our automated processor.

  • Dermatology

  • The weather in South Carolina is ideal for skin problems. We have experience with most skin maladies such as allergies, parasites, skin infections, etc. Dr. Tim Herold has a special interest in dermatology, and has attended many continuing education lectures on this topic.

  • Parasitology

  • Our veterinary patients are sometimes subjected to parasites which can cause harm. We have a laboratory to diagnose these parasites and medications to treat the problem.

  • Laboratory Services

  • ECAC is proud of their in-house laboratory. Our clinic offers parasite exams such as fecal float tests, skin scrapings/ear cytology as well as blood work (CBC, Chemistry, Electrolytes, heartworm testing, etc). We can also evaluate urine samples and fungal cultures.

  • Nutrition / Behavioral Counseling

  • Our trained staff can help you choose the right diet for your pet to keep him or her happy and healthy. We also offer behavioral consults for conditions such as separation anxiety and aggression, etc.

  • Pain Management

  • The doctors and staff at ECAC are strong proponents of pre-emptive pain management. We utilize pain relievers before, during, and after each procedure that could cause pain. Treatment protocols are also individualized for each pet.
